Job Title: Mortgage Consultant - Retail Sales - New Jersey

Requirements
Responsible for all aspects of mortgage originations specific to pre-funding operations such as sales analysis, interviewing, gathering data and compiling a quality loan application. It is the Mortgage Consultant’s responsibility to ensure that loans are processed, underwritten and closed accurately and in a timely manner while remaining in compliance and with the most professional execution. The Mortgage Consultant is a partner to Fulfillment in delivering an excellent customer experience.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Ability to work in a Bank regulated or similar financial institution environment to partner and leverage products and customers.
• Work personal existing book of business from external sources such as:
• Realtors
• Builders
• Attorneys
• CPAs
• Financial Planners
• Developers
• Utilize needs based consultant selling skills for mortgage programs and other financial lending and deposit products and ensure maximum cross sell opportunities.
• Ability to thrive in a team environment and utilize exceptional partnership skills.
Partner with our bank culture and all branch touch points to achieve goals together with:
• Branch Manager
• Assistant Manager
• Relationship Banker
• Teller
• Other Branch Franchise partners – SBB, Financial Advisor (Consultant),
• Leverage both external referral business and internal sources for maximum market share penetration.
• Target external to bank mix: 70/30
• Develop and execute a local marketing plan for external and internal business development designed to meet goals and objectives.
• Focus exclusively on customer needs and customer service.
• Proactively market with a strong visibility in branch on a daily basis – daily huddles, sales meetings and joint sales calls with partners
• “Quarterback” the mortgage lending efforts of the branch.
• Program and pipeline updates and branch mortgage activities and events such as “Mortgage Days,” Community Events, First time home buyer seminars and/or Bank at Work promotions
• Educate branch staff on mortgage basics and coordinate together on the referral program.
• To promote behavior that is consistent with Capital One’s visions, values and ethics in order to always “do the right thing.”

Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• At least 3 years experience in residential mortgage sales originations
• At least 2 years experience in mortgage originations operations with a knowledge of loan underwriting, processing and closing functions.
• At least 2 years experience in FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA programs and underwriting guidelines, as well as those of other conventional investors, state/local bond programs and private mortgage insurers

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 2 years experience working in a Bank regulated environment.
• An existing book of business from external sources.
• Needs based, consultative selling skills.
• Thoroughly versed in mortgage originations with knowledge of loan underwriting, processing and closing functions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Customer-service oriented.
